Karl Peter Becker , also Carl Peter Becker , from 1833 Karl Peter Ritter von Becker (born December 13, 1778 in Höfen , Bamberg district office , † November 14, 1848 in Munich ) was a Bavarian lieutenant general and master builder .

Life

Peter Becker studied mathematics and the art of drawing and from 1798 voluntarily embarked on a military career and from 1803 belonged to the engineering corps. With a decree of July 30, 1809, Emperor Napoleon appointed him a member of the French Legion of Honor . He had in 1806 as leader of the 6 . Bavarian line infantry - regiment the siege of Plassenburg commanded and signed the surrender of the Prussian troops. From 1812 to 1824 different uses in civil engineering positions followed, e.g. B. 1812 in building matters as subordination to the war economy council in Munich. At the beginning of 1817 he was sent to Ingolstadt as an engineer major from the Bavarian General Staff to prepare the fortress construction.

In 1826 he was appointed to the fortress building commission under Clemens von Raglovich .

In 1832 he replaced his competitor Michael von Streiter , who had been in the position since 1827, as fortress construction director of the Ingolstadt fortress and established a modern, polygonal architectural style in the fortress construction . In May 1836 he was promoted to major general and at the end of 1838 took over the post of head of the engineering corps in addition to the fortress construction director . On April 5, 1848 he was appointed lieutenant general. As early as April 12, 1848, after almost 17 years and almost 50 years of service, he was recalled as fortress construction director due to a serious illness.

On March 5, 1833 he was made a knight and thus raised to the nobility . On December 7, 1842, he was made an honorary citizen of Ingolstadt .

The right figure of a medieval knight at the New Feldkirchen Gate in Ingolstadt represents Peter von Becker.

He was married to Helene Karoline Maria Wilhelmina Haller von Hallerstein (* 1788) since 1809 . He had a son († 1848) and a daughter.
