Clemens Baron von Raglovich (born June 29, 1766 in Dillingen , † June 3, 1836 in Munich ) was a Bavarian infantry general in the Napoleonic Wars .

Life

He comes from the Raglovich zum Rosenhof family, who came from the county of Gorizia . The family was the Emperor I. Leopold (HRR) on October 20, 1671 ennobled .

Born the son of a major , Raglovich was initially an officer in the Swabian district contingent of the Imperial Army . He fought on the Rhine from 1793 to 1796 and in northern Italy in 1799 , where he was seriously wounded in the battle of Novi . When Dillingen came to Bavaria, he was accepted into the Bavarian army and distinguished himself in the campaigns of 1805, 1806/07 and 1809; in the latter he was Chief of Staff of the Bavarian 1st Division. In the Russian campaign of 1812 he was wounded right at the beginning in the First Battle of Polotsk and brought back to his homeland to recover. In 1813 he commanded the Bavarian division in Prussia , which was newly established for France, and distinguished himself as a troop leader in the battles of Bautzen and Dennewitz . In 1814 he supervised the formation of the Bavarian reserve army, the following year he commanded the 1st division. In 1817 he became director of the topographical bureau, in 1820 chief of the general staff , which he reorganized in line with the times. In 1821 he was made an honorary member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . At his death he was Imperial Councilor and General of the Infantry . In 1836 the Main Conservatory of the Army (later the Bavarian Army Library ) acquired around 3,500 volumes from its collection.
