Peter Beyer (born December 25, 1970 in Ratingen ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and lawyer ( specialist lawyer for commercial legal protection ).

Life

Peter Beyer was born on December 25, 1970 in Ratingen. After graduating from high school in 1991, he did his military service in a company command group in Wuppertal . Immediately afterwards he began studying political science and law at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . While still a student, he made his way to Bonn, where he studied history and politics at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in addition to studying law. During his legal clerkship, he visited the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer, among others .

After completing his studies, Peter Beyer worked for the international US law firm Mayer, Brown & Platt (today Mayer Brown) in Cologne , at the law firms Brinks, Hofer, Gilson & Lione ( Chicago , USA) and Murchison & Cumming ( Los Angeles , USA) .

In 2001 Beyer graduated from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville with a Master of Laws degree .

Beyer lives in Ratingen and has two school-age children.

27 September 2009 Beyer was in the general election with 39.8% in the first votes in the constituency II Mettmann ( Heiligenhaus , Ratingen , Velbert and Wülfrath ) as a deputy to the 17th German Bundestag elected.

On September 22, 2013, Beyer was re-elected as a member of the 18th German Bundestag in the Bundestag election with 45.6% of the first votes .

On September 24, 2017, Beyer was re-elected as a member of the 19th German Bundestag in the federal election with 39.3% of the first votes . There he is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee as well as a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the sub-committee United Nations, International Organizations and Globalization. Beyer is also a deputy member of the Committee on European Union Affairs and the Joint Committee.

Since April 11, 2018, Beyer has been the Federal Government's new coordinator for transatlantic cooperation in the Federal Foreign Office. With his appointment to this position, Beyer is part of the federal government.
