Peter Blangé (born December 9, 1964 in Voorburg ) is a former Dutch volleyball player . He was one of the world's best recorders of the 1990s.
Peter Blangé began playing volleyball at the local Starlift Voorburg club. In 1988 he moved to the top club Martinus Amstelveen . Here he was twice Dutch champion under coach Arie Selinger and twice finished third in the European Cup . In 1990, the player moved to the Italian league. He first played one season with Pallavolo Catania and from 1991 onwards with the top club Pallavolo Parma , with whom he was Italian champion in 1992 and 1993, won the Italian Cup in 1992 and the European CEV Cup in 1992 and 1995 . In 1996/97 Peter Blangé played at Moerser SC in the German Bundesliga . He then went back to Italy and was Italian champion twice in a row with Sisley Treviso , won the CEV Cup again in 1998 and crowned his club career in 1999 by winning the Champions League . Peter Blangé then played back in his home country and won the Dutch championship and cup with Geové Vrevok Nieuwegein and, at the end of his playing career, in 2002 with Dynamo Apeldoorn again cup winner.
Peter Blangé played 500 times for the Dutch national team between 1984 and 2000, holding the national record. He took part in four Olympic Games and won the silver medal in Barcelona in 1992 and the gold medal in Atlanta in 1996 . Other highlights were winning the World League in 1996 and winning the European Championship in 1997 in their own country .
From 2004 to 2007 Peter Blangé was head coach at the Dutch club Ortec Rotterdam Nesselande , where he was twice Dutch champion and three times cup winner. From 2006 to 2010 he was the coach of the Dutch men's national team.
In 2012 Peter Blangé was inducted into the " Volleyball Hall of Fame ".
