Peter Carl Geissler
Peter Carl Geissler (also Geissler ; * 2. January 1802 in Leipzig , † 27. February 1872 in Nuremberg ) was a German watercolor - painter , engraver and publisher .
Life
Peter Carl Geissler was one of the sons of the engraver Christian Gottfried Heinrich Geißler . He was a student of Albert Christoph Reindel (1784-1853) at the art school in Nuremberg . There he founded a publishing bookstore and Illuminiranstalt in 1830 . Geissler's son Rudolf , also spelled Rudolph (1834–1906), also became a painter, draftsman and illustrator in Nuremberg.
Works
- Geissler provided drawings for book titles and paperbacks, but also for works by Goethe, Schiller, Zschokke and others. a.
- Geissler's drawings for a picture Bible for young people were engraved by the founder of a graphic arts establishment in Nuremberg, Carl Mayer .
- "Around 1830" is a "View of Meißen with Treidlern " as a watercolor copper engraving with a picture of the Albrechtsburg , which is owned by the Saxon State and University Library Dresden and is shown after a photo by the German Photo Library at Europeana .
- For the book by Johann Heinrich Voss , Luise , published in 1838, Geissler and Gustav Schlick created templates that were engraved in steel by the English artists Thomas Phillebrown , Fernel and J. A. Wright .
- Around 1840: Etching from Neustadt an der Aisch
- A handwritten, 4-page “contract in relation to Carl Mayer Verlag and its publisher Lotzbeck”, which was auctioned on ebay , was dated “Around 1843” .
