Peter James Cullinane CNZM (born November 16, 1936 in Dannevirke ) is Bishop Emeritus of Palmerston North .

Life

The Archbishop of Genoa , Giuseppe Cardinal Siri , ordained him a priest on July 9, 1950 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Wellington . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Palmerston North on March 6, 1980 .

The Archbishop of Wellington , Thomas Stafford Williams , ordained him bishop on April 23 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Owen Noel Snedden , Auxiliary Bishop in Wellington and Military Vicar of New Zealand , and Edward Russell Gaines , Bishop of Hamilton in New Zealand .

On February 22, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation submitted by Peter James Cullinane for reasons of age.
