Peter Diederich

Peter Diederich (born November 7, 1938 in Jena ; † June 9, 2015 ) was a German politician and functionary of the GDR block party DBD . In 1990 he was briefly Minister for Environmental Protection and Water Management in the GDR .

Life

The son of a working-class family attended elementary and high school from 1944 to 1956 with a high school diploma. From 1952 to 1962 he was a member of the FDJ . From 1956 to 1962 he studied agriculture at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and graduated as a qualified farmer specializing in phytopathology . In 1962 he became a member of the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD), the FDGB , the DSF and the Kulturbund . From 1962 to 1973 he worked as a plant protection agronomist and head of the Schleiz / Lobenstein plant protection office . From 1964 to 1968 he acted as chairman of the Schleiz branch of the DBD. From 1968 to 1974 he was a member of the Schleiz district board of the DBD and its secretariat. In 1971 he was promoted to Dr. agr. PhD . From 1974 to 1990 he was a member of the DBD district board in Gera and its secretariat. From 1973 to 1974 Diederich was deputy for production in the production management of the Schleiz district council .

From January 1975 to July 1981 he was a member of the Gera District Council for Environmental Protection and Water Management, after which he was Deputy Chairman of the Gera District Council for Energy, Transport and Communications, from 1986 he was responsible for transport and communications. From October 1976 to 1990 Diederich was a member of the Gera district assembly. He was a member of the DBD party executive from 1982 to 1986. On January 5, 1990, he took up the post of deputy minister for nature conservation, environmental protection and water management and head of environmental monitoring in the GDR in the Modrow government . Six days later - on January 11, 1990 - at the request of Prime Minister Hans Modrow , he was elected a member of the Council of Ministers by the 14th session of the People's Chamber and appointed Minister for Nature Conservation, Environmental Protection and Water Management . He held this office until April 12, 1990.
