Peter Flury
Peter Flury (born June 8, 1938 in Fideris ; † January 5, 2001 in Munich ) was a Swiss classical philologist and lexicographer .
Flury, son of a Protestant pastor Swiss, studied classical philology at the University of Zurich and was established in 1965 with a thesis on "love and love language in Menander, Plautus and Terence" doctorate . 1966–1969 he was a scholarship holder of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and has since worked on the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae . On April 1, 1974, he took over the management of the project as general editor. During his term of office, he switched to electronic media.
Flury died on January 5, 2001 after a serious illness. At 27, his tenure as general editor was the longest in the history of the TLL. Hugo Beikircher was his successor .
