Peter Hesse

Peter Hesse (born September 29, 1944 in Lostau ; † December 29, 2004 in Gärtringen ) was a German chess player and composer .

Chess player

He took part in the student world championships twice with the GDR national team: in 1966 in Örebro and in 1968 in Ybbs on the Danube . In 1978 he played in the GDR national team: in the semifinals of the 1978 Teleschess Olympics against Iceland, he played on the seventh board. In 1979 he won a round-robin tournament in Varna and took third place in the GDR individual championship in Suhl . In 1985 he won a round-robin tournament in Olomouc . In 1986 he won the 1st Wernigerode chess tournament . In October 2002 he won the 11th Wernigerode Chess Days in Wernigerode with 6.5 points from 7 games .

His better-known games include victories against Slobodan Martinović , Jan Smejkal , Lutz Espig , Uwe Bönsch , Ingvar Ásmundsson , Wolfgang Uhlmann , Raj Tischbierek and Jürgen Delitzsch as well as draws against Dimitar Dontschew and Eduard Gufeld .

During the GDR era, Peter Hesse played for BSG Motor Südost Magdeburg , then for Lok Leipzig-Mitte , with whom he played in the 2nd Bundesliga South after 1990. From 1997 he played for Rochade Magdeburg , in 2004 he returned to SV Lok Leipzig-Mitte .

He held the title of FIDE Master . His last Elo rating was 2305, his highest rating was 2440 in January 1980.

Chess composition

Between 1968 and 1971 five of his studies were published in the journal Schach . In addition, he composed some chess problems.
