Peter Hildreth

Peter Burke Hildreth (born July 8, 1928 in Bedford , † February 25, 2011 in Farnham , Surrey ) was a British hurdler who specialized in the 110-meter distance .

In 1950 he won bronze at the European Athletics Championships in Brussels .

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 and at the European Championships in 1954 in Bern, he reached the semi-finals, and at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 he failed in the run-up.

In 1958 he was starting for England at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff fifth over 120  yard hurdles. At the European Championships in Stockholm he came in fourth place.

At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, he was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

He was three times English champion over 120 yard hurdles (1950, 1953, 1956) and twice over 220 yard hurdles (1952, 1954). He set his personal best in the 110 m hurdles of 14.26 s on September 14, 1958 in Colombes .
