Peter I. Pfäffinger

Peter Pfäffinger (or Pfaffinger ) was an Augustinian canon and, as Peter I, was provost of the Berchtesgaden monastery from 1357 to 1362 .

Origin and work

Peter comes from the family of the Pfäffinger to Salman churches , which in Lower Bavaria had many goods cross from the Office of Lower Bavaria for several generations Erbmarschalls held. His father was Andreas II Pfäffinger , his mother Margarete Harskircher . Other well-known family members were Gentiflor († 1503) and his son Degenhart Pfäffinger zu Salmanskirchen (1471-1519).

The coat of arms of the Pfäffingers was a rising white lion with a yellow inful in a red field.

As an Augustinian canon , Peter Pfäffinger was elected provost of the Augustinian canons in Berchtesgaden in 1357 and as such was placed on an equal footing with the imperial princes . Although in his reign u. a. a war between the Bavarian Duke Stephan and the Salzburg Archbishop Ortolf is not known about Pfäffinger's work during his tenure as provost until 1362.
