Peter Ingham

Peter William Ingham (born January 19, 1941 in Sydney ) is an Australian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Wollongong .

Life

The Archbishop of Sydney , Norman Thomas Cardinal Gilroy , ordained him a priest on July 18, 1964 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Pudentiana and auxiliary bishop in Sydney on May 24, 1993 . He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of Sydney, Edward Bede Cardinal Clancy , on July 12 of the same year; Co- consecrators were James Patrick Carroll , Auxiliary Bishop in Sydney, and Patrick Dougherty , Bishop of Bathurst .

He was named bishop of Wollongong on June 6, 2001 and inducted into the office on July 25 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on November 30, 2017.
