Peter Ivanovich Severin ( Russian Петр Иванович Северин ; transcribed Peter Ivanovich Sewerin * 1761 , † September 23 jul. / 5. October  1830 greg. ) Russian Major General , Civil Governor of Vitebsk and Senator .

Life

Severin joined the army , served in the artillery and advanced to the rank of lieutenant after he was sent to Constantinople on a courier in 1783 and brought gold worth over a million rubles to Russia . He took part in the Finnish War and was one of the architects of the Peace of Värälä . Until 1797 he was in the Semenov regiment and rose there to colonel . In recognition of his military and diplomatic achievements, he received 25,000 rubles, was promoted to major general in 1797, and became the commander of the Izmailovo regiment.

Severin dimittierte but still in 1797 from military service and was privy . In December 1800 he took over the Vitebsk governorate as civil governor . At this point he was not very successful, there were several atrocities against the population, whereupon he was recalled . Later, however, he received several awards, so he was not permanently out of favor. With his appointment as a senator in the 8th division of the governing senate in 1822, he concluded his career. He held the position of senator until his death.

Severin had a son, Anna Bragin, Dimitri Petrowitsch Severin , who later became the Russian envoy and plenipotentiary minister in Munich .
