Peter Klohmann

Peter Klohmann (* 1986 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German musician ( tenor saxophone , also flute , bassoon , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

After early musical education, Klohmann first learned to play the guitar from the age of seven , and the saxophone was added in 1995. He played in school big bands and other local groups; From 2001 to 2005 he attended the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz as a young student , where he was taught by Martin Lejeune and Sven Hack, among others . In 2003 he won the youth jazz competition . He was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state youth jazz orchestra from 2001 to 2007, then played in the federal jazz orchestra until 2011 . After completing his bachelor's degree as a jazz saxophonist at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (until 2010), he completed his master's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart with Bernd Konrad and Rainer Tempel until 2012 .

Klohmann has been leading his own groups since 2006, such as the trio The Extra Dry , Basssoooka and The Sound of Love . Tours have taken him to Brazil, the USA, South Africa, South Korea, Russia, Poland, India, Italy and the Balkans. In 2009 he founded the Junge Szene Frankfurt series , which has found its monthly place in the Frankfurt Jazzkeller . In 2012 he worked as a temporary worker in the hr big band . In 2013 he received a work grant from the city of Frankfurt. He performed with his septet at the 2014 German Jazz Festival .

Klohmann was hired as saxophonist by Felix Jaehn for the song Cool , which was released as a single from Jaehn's debut album I on February 9, 2018. It reached chart positions in Germany and Austria, as well as US Hot Dance / Electronic Songs .
