Peter Kooij

Peter Kooij (also Peter Kooy ; * 1954 in Soest ) is a Dutch singer ( baritone ) and specialist in historical performance practice .

Life

After studying the violin, Kooij studied singing with Max van Egmond in Holland . He regularly participates in the complete recording of Bach cantatas by the Bach Collegium Japan . There is also a regular collaboration with the Collegium Vocale Gent under Philippe Herreweghe . Today he teaches as a professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague .

More than 100 CDs document his work.

In 2002 he founded a quartet with Monika Frimmer , Christa Bonhoff and Dantes Diwiak called Tanto Canto , which performs rare songs both a cappella and with piano or ensemble. In 2005 the quartet recorded excerpts from the ear-pleasing and mind-delighting Tafel-Confect (also called Augsburger Tafel-Confect ) by the composers Valentin Rathgeber and Johann Caspar Seyfert , conducted by Jürgen Sonnentheil .
