Peter Lang (swimmer)

Peter Lang (born May 24, 1958 in Ludwigshafen ) is a German swimmer and Olympic participant. The 1.91 m tall and 84 kg heavy athlete started for the SSG Saar Max Ritter and the DSW 1912 Darmstadt .

Life

Peter Lang grew up in Frankenthal (Palatinate) and began swimming at the Frankenthal Swimming Club, where he and his brother Stefan were initially trained by his father. The father himself could look back on a successful swimming career as a breaststroke swimmer. After graduating from the Albert-Einstein-Gymnasium in Frankenthal, he studied architecture at the TH Darmstadt and joined the swimming and water sports club there. After finishing his swimming career, he worked as an architect in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.

Career

He won four German championships over 100 m breaststroke :

  • 1980 in 1: 03.77 min.
  • 1981 in 1: 04.96 min.
  • 1982 in 1: 04.90 min.
  • 1984 in 1: 04.36 min.

He started on the same route at the 1982 World Championships in Guayaquil and came in 8th and last place in 1: 04.72 minutes.

As a participant in the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 and in Los Angeles in 1984 , he achieved the following results:

  • 100 m chest:
    • In 1976 he reached the semifinals, where he was ninth with 1: 05.19 minutes; the eight best swam all well under 1:05 min.
    • In 1984 he was able to increase to 1: 04.43 minutes and came third in the B final.
  • 200 m chest:
    • In 1976 his time of 2: 24.26 minutes was not enough to make it to the final.
    • In 1984 he swam 2: 24.60 minutes and even missed participation in the B final.
