Walter Kusch

Walter Kusch (born May 31, 1954 in Hildesheim ) is a German swimmer .

Life

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , he won the bronze medal with the German 4 × 100 m individual relay relay . Kusch celebrated his greatest triumph in 1978 when he became world champion in the 100 m chest . In addition, he won several medals at world championships and European championships on the breast sticks and with the layer relay and set a total of 34 German records in his career. Since 2009 he has also won medals at national and international championships and has set various new European and world records in the 55 age group.

Today he works as a dentist in Hildesheim.

In 1976, Kusch was awarded the silver bay leaf .

In 1988 the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History set up the Gallery of Honor for Sports in Lower Saxony and included Kusch in the Gallery of Honor for his services to sports in Lower Saxony . Today it is in the Honor Board category of the Honor Portal that emerged from the Honor Gallery.
