Peter Mamerow (born September 20, 1958 in Dortmund ) is a German automobile racing driver and entrepreneur. He is the father of the racing driver Christian Mamerow and team boss of the Mamerow Racing team .

Racing career

DTM

Peter Mamerow began his driving career in touring car racing in 1984. That year he started as a private driver with a VW Golf GTI in three races of the German Production Car Championship (later DTM ) and finished 23rd at the end of the season. In 1985 he competed in the production car championship as a privateer with a VW Golf GTI and also as a driver for the Ulrich Mönninghoff RT team with a Chevrolet Camaro Z28 . After a break, he only drove in the DTM race at the Nürburgring in 1987 .

He only got back into the DTM in 2001 with his Mamerow Racing team . During the season he drove an Opel Astra V8 Coupé , with which, however, he could not place in the points.

Porsche Carrera Cup

In 1992 and 1999 Mamerow competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany . In his first season he drove a Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cup to 16th place and in 1999 a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 996) to 13th place in the annual ranking.

ADAC GT Cup

In the 1993 and 1995 seasons he drove in the ADAC GT Cup. In 1993 he finished seventh in the overall ranking with a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR . In 1995 he finished tenth in a Ferrari F355 .

Super Touring Car Cup

In 1996 and 1998 Mamerow started in the STW . In 1996 he finished 23rd with an Audi 80 Competition and in 1998 he was able to improve by one place and finished 20th in the season result.

ADAC GT Masters

In 2007 , Peter Mamerow and his son Christian Mamerow drove a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997) in the ADAC GT Masters on two race weekends . In the first race at the Nürburgring they both finished second and in the race in Oschersleben they finished fourth in the first run. At the end of the season both reached 13th place.

Other racing events

In 2009, 2015 and 2017 he competed in various races on the Nürburgring. In 2009 and 2017 he drove in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and achieved his best result there in 2017 with second place in the SP-X class.

In 2015 he drove a few races in the DMV Gran Turismo Touring Car Cup and finished the season in 19th place.

Entrepreneur career

Peter Mamerow began building cars for racing in 1982. Until 1990 he had concentrated on cars from Volkswagen and Opel . He then specialized in Porsche vehicles.

In parallel to the workshop operation, he founded his racing team Mamerow Racing with which he competed as a driver and later as a team manager in various racing series.
