Peter Mattei
Peter Mattei ( pronunciation : [ ˌpeːtəɺ maˈtɛjː ], born June 3, 1965 in Piteå ) is a Swedish opera and concert singer ( baritone ).
Life
Peter Mattei studied at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Academy of Opera Artists ( Operahögskolan ) in Stockholm .
In 1990 he made his debut at the Drottningholm Palace Theater in Mozart's La finta giardiniera . He experienced his international breakthrough in 1998 as Don Giovanni under the direction of Peter Brook at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence .
Mattei had engagements a.o. in the past seasons. a. at the Metropolitan Opera , the Frankfurt Opera , the Salzburg Festival , the Vienna State Opera , the Royal Stockholm Opera , the Lyric Opera of Chicago , the Teatro alla Scala , the Opéra National de Paris , the Bavarian State Opera , the San Francisco Opera , the Glyndebourne Festival , at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie and at the Berlin State Opera . Mattei is currently one of the most sought-after baritones of his generation.
