Peter Mitzscherling

Peter Mitzscherling (born December 14, 1928 in Löbau ; † December 28, 1996 in Berlin ) was a German SPD politician.

Professional background

After graduating from high school in 1947, Mitzscherling studied economics at the Humboldt University in Berlin, but dropped out after two semesters in order to continue his studies in economics and business administration at the Technical University of Berlin in 1955 and to finish with the diploma examination (Dipl.-Kfm.) In 1959.

In 1967 the doctorate to Dr. rer. pole.

Employment

Mitzscherling was employed, among other things, at the social insurance Berlin (BAV, KVA and AOK) (from 1948 to 1960) and at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) (1961–1974).

Political offices

In 1974 Mitzscherling was appointed Senate Director (State Secretary) for Labor in Berlin (1974–1980).

In 1980 Mitzscherling was elected to the Bundestag .

There he was, among other things, Chairman of the Advisory Board for Trade Policy Agreements (1983) and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Foreign Economic and Trade Policy (1987)

Public offices

After Walter Momper's election victory on January 29, 1989 , he was appointed Senator for Economics, but only held this office until the new election in January 1991.

Mitzscherling was married and had two children.
