Peter Schlack (born September 16, 1943 in Stuttgart ) is a Swabian dialect poet, painter and draftsman.

Life

Peter Schlack grew up in Stuttgart- Gablenberg . After graduating from school, he first completed an apprenticeship as a lithographer and in the late sixties. a degree in social pedagogy . Since then he has worked as a social worker and therapist in the youth and drug counseling service in Stuttgart . He has been retired since 2004 and lives partly in Stuttgart-Degerloch , partly in Finland. He is married to Leena Kantola from Finland.

From 1975 to 1992 Schlack ran its own publishing house, the Peter Schlack Verlag, Stuttgart, and from 1994 the Edition Peter Schlack, also Stuttgart. In addition to works by Peter Schlack, the Peter Schlack Verlag also published works by Nikolaus Berwanger , Willi Habermann , Uta-Maria Heim , Wilhelm König , Helmut Pfisterer , Eberhard Sorg, Michael Spohn and Dieter Wieland.

As an author and publisher, Schlack was one of the founders of the “New Dialect in Swabia”. Schlack's first volume of poems with language-playful texts was self- published in 1973 under the title Urlaut . To date, Schlack has published more than 16 volumes of poetry and short prose pieces. Schlack also released the works Gablenberga Gschichta and So sotts sae as audio book versions on CD that he had read himself. Both CDs combine dialect with jazz. Schlack recorded the CD So sotts sae with the Trio des Arts . For this he and the trio were awarded the Baden-Württemberg Cabaret Prize in 1996.

Schlack is also active as a painter, draftsman and book illustrator.

Peter Schlack illustrated most of his writings himself. In some cases, other Stuttgart artists contributed the illustrations:

Poetry stations

For the International Horticultural Exhibition 1993 (IGA '93) in Stuttgart, the regional competition "The IGA and the Word" was announced, to which local writers could submit verbal contributions. Peter Schlack also took part with a few short dialect poems, which were implemented graphically and artistically in smaller resting places, so-called poetry stations on the Wartberg in Stuttgart.
