Peter Schneider (born September 20, 1957 in Dorsten , Germany ) is a Swiss psychoanalyst and writer .

Life

Peter Schneider studied German , philosophy and psychology at the universities of Bochum , Münster and Zurich . In Zurich he runs his own practice as a psychotherapist and works as a lecturer, supervisor and training analyst in the postgraduate psychotherapy training at the University of Zurich. Since his habilitation in 2004, he has also worked as a private lecturer in psychoanalysis at the University of Bremen . He has written numerous books and essay publications, mainly on theoretical problems in psychoanalysis, and repeatedly speaks out in public.

He is known to a wider audience as an author and speaker on Radio SRF 3 (formerly DRS 3 ). The satirical rubrics “The other press review” and “Letter from Peter Schneider” are from his pen; he is also the narrator in the radio play series Philip Maloney . In addition, weekly columns by Peter Schneider appear in several Swiss newspapers , including “PS” in the SonntagsZeitung or “Reader questions, Peter Schneider answers” ​​in the Tages-Anzeiger .

Peter Schneider comes from Germany and has been a Swiss citizen since 1992 . He has been married since 1988, has a grown son and lives in Zurich.
