Peter Ulmer

Peter Ulmer (born January 2, 1933 in Heidelberg ) is a German law professor.

Life

Ulmer studied law from 1952 in Tübingen , later in Geneva and Heidelberg . In Tübingen he joined the student association " Akademische Gesellschaft Stuttgardia ". The trainee examination in 1956 was followed by the legal preparatory service in Heidelberg and Munich as well as with the then European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) in Luxembourg , which Ulmer completed in 1961 with the assessor examination.

In 1959 Ulmer was in Heidelberg with a dissertation on the concept of undertaking in the Treaty of the European Coal and Steel Dr. iur. utr. PhD.

After the assessor exam, Ulmer initially worked as an assistant to the board of the auditing company Deutsche Treuhandgesellschaft AG and as a civil servant in the legal service of the Commission of the European Communities. In 1968 he completed his habilitation with a work as an authorized dealer supervised by Wolfgang Hefermehl .

From 1969 to 1975 Ulmer was full professor for civil law, commercial and company law in Hamburg , from 1975 until his retirement in 2001 full professor at the University of Heidelberg , where he was rector from 1991 to 1997. From 1994 to 1996 Peter Ulmer was chairman of the Baden-Württemberg State Rectors ' Conference . He was also chairman of the legal committee of the German Research Foundation and a member of the permanent deputation of the German Lawyers' Association . Ulmer was on the supervisory board of the law firm SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz AG (today GmbH).

The Universities of Autonoma (Madrid), Montpellier (France) and Lleida (Spain) have awarded him an honorary doctorate. His academic students are Mathias Habersack , Carsten Schäfer and Matthias Casper .

In addition to distribution law and the law of general terms and conditions, the focus of Ulmer's scientific work is primarily company law (in particular the law of partnerships , GmbH and group law). The Federal Court of Justice rejects his theory of spheres , which he developed in connection with liability for counterfeit check forms .

Peter Ulmer is the son of Eugen Ulmer .

He was married to Jorinde Ulmer, b. Heygster († 2004) and has three daughters and one son.
