Peter Webert

Peter Heinrich Adam Amandus Webert (born December 2, 1962 in Bad Hersfeld ) is a Brigadier General of the Army of the Bundeswehr and the commander of the Center for Geoinformation of the Bundeswehr and head of the Geoinformation Service of the Bundeswehr .

Military career

Training and first uses

Webert joined the Bundeswehr in July 1982 with the 355 tank artillery battalion in Wildflecken and then completed his training as an officer in the artillery force until 1983 . From 1983 to 1986 he studied surveying at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . After completing his studies as a qualified engineer , he was employed from 1987 to 1989 as a platoon leader in the Lance thrower train , and from 1989 to 1991 as a platoon leader for the escort battery in the 650 rocket artillery battalion in Flensburg . From 1991 to 1993 a further assignment followed, this time as a surveying train driver in the topography battery 600 in Rendsburg . Afterwards he was employed as head of the independent topography train 100, also in Rendsburg, until 1995 . From 1995 to 1997 he took part in the 38th course in the National General Staff / Admiralty Staff Service at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg .

Service as a staff officer

After completing his staff officer training, Webert was transferred to Euskirchen , where he was employed from 1997 to 2000 as a staff officer for geographic information in the principle department of the Bundeswehr's geographic information office. From 2000 to 2004 he was employed as an international staff officer for geographic information in the Regional Command Allied Forces North Europe of NATO in Brunssum ( Netherlands ). This was followed by two further posts in the Bundeswehr Center for Geoinformation, in 2004 as Head of the National / International Cooperation Department and representing the Group Leader External Relations , and from 2005 to 2007 as Head of the Concept / Training Department . In 2007, Webert was transferred to Bonn , where he was key adviser Fü S II 6 (geographic information in the Bundeswehr; navigation in the Bundeswehr) in the command staff of the armed forces until 2008 . This was followed by a series of follow-up assignments in the Bundeswehr Center for Geographic Information Systems: from 2008 to 2010 he was group leader for external relations , group leader for operations from 2010 to 2013, 2013 to 2015 as head of department GeoInfo support , and finally from 2015 to 2016 as head of staff . From 2016 to 2019, Webert was employed in the Federal Ministry of Defense ( Berlin office ) as Head of Unit CIT I 5 (Geoinformation of the Bw, Geoinformation Support IT-SysBw, Analysis & Simulation - later CIT II 8).

Service as a general

On September 25, 2019, Webert succeeded Brigadier General Roland Brunner as Commander of the Center for Geoinformation of the Bundeswehr and Head of the Geoinformation Service of the Bundeswehr. In this post he was appointed Brigadier General himself in December 2019.
