Peter Zinkann

Peter Christian Zinkann (born September 17, 1928 in Bremen ) was a member of the management of Miele & Cie .

Life

Zinkann is a grandson of the company's founder Reinhard Zinkann (1864–1939) and the son of Kurt Christian Zinkann (1904–1985). In 1944 he ended up working as an anti-aircraft helper at Gütersloh Airport . In 1949 he graduated from the Evangelisch Stiftisches Gymnasium and studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt and the St. Gallen University of Commerce . He completed his studies with a degree in engineering and received his doctorate in 1956. On January 1, 1957, he joined Miele and on December 20, 1972, he was authorized to sign alone.

While Rudolf Miele covered the commercial side of the company, Zinkann was considered the company's technical innovator. He submitted 80 patents to the German Patent and Trademark Office .

Zinkann has been married to Karin, nee Rohe, since 1958. His son Reinhard Zinkann (* 1959) has been the managing partner of the Gütersloh household appliance manufacturer since 1999.

In 1999 he and Rudolf Miele were inducted into the “Hall of fame” of Manager Magazin . In 2003 he received honorary citizenship of the city of Gütersloh , and in 2006 the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class, among other things for his services to the Miele Foundation founded in 1974 to promote youth care, the Kurt Zinkann Foundation for music care and the Erich-und-Katharina-Zinkann Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Research in Health Care. Zinkann is also an honorary senator of the University of Paderborn and holder of the Carl Heinrich Dencker badge of honor from the University of Bonn for his services in the field of household technology.
