Peter von Krafft

Peter von Krafft (born September 18, 1861 in Düsseldorf , † after 1894) was a German genre painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Von Krafft studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1878 to 1886 . There were Hugo Crola , Heinrich Lauenstein , Eduard Gebhardt , Julius Roeting , Peter Janssen the Elder. Ä. and Carl Ernst Forberg his teachers. Everyone attested him good to very good performance, the latter “very talented”. Von Krafft especially created watercolors that were shown at the Dresden watercolor exhibitions in 1887 and 1892. For the Stadttheater Düsseldorf , von Krafft, whom the art writer Friedrich Schaarschmidt identified as a representative of naturalism , carried out “strange paintings” on the cove with putti as monthly representatives. He painted the ceiling of the auditorium together with Horace de Saussure under the direction of Wilhelm Sohn . In Düsseldorf von Krafft was a member of the artists' association Malkasten .
