Peter von der Grün

Peter von der Grün (* 1972 in Bamberg ) is a Bavarian local politician ( Free Voters ). On February 3, 2019, he was elected District Administrator of the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district.

Life

His family moved to Waidhofen in the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district when he was just under five years old . He passed his Abitur at the grammar school Schrobenhausen , after which he studied law . In 1999 he was admitted as a lawyer . Together with his wife he runs a law firm in Neuburg an der Donau and is a specialist lawyer for construction and architectural law as well as for labor law .

politics

Von der Grün joined the Free Voters and first applied for a political mandate in the election of the Schrobenhausen City Council in 2002 . After moving to the district town, he ran for the city council of Neuburg an der Donau in 2008 . In the state elections in 2013 , he applied as a direct candidate for free voters in the constituency of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen and was defeated by the then Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer .

In the 2014 local elections , he was elected to both the Rennertshofen market council and the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district council. He made a name for himself as a spokesman for a citizens' initiative in the debate about further flood polders on the Danube in the district.

The election of Roland Weigert to the Bavarian state parliament made it necessary to elect the district administrator. In the election on January 20, 2019, Peter von der Grün received 40.6% of the votes from among four applicants; In the runoff election on February 3, 2019, he was successful with 52.4% against Fridolin Gößl, the CSU applicant. It is important to him, also because he has already lived in several places in the district, to be a binding member of the district created in 1972. According to his election campaign statement, it is not just about "managing", but about "shaping" and working with the municipalities.

Private

Von der Grün lives in the Bertoldsheim district of Rennertshofen . He is married to the lawyer Silke von der Grün, the couple have two children.
