Richard Keßler (politician)

Richard Keßler (born March 15, 1940 in Augsburg ; † June 12, 2016 in Ingolstadt ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Life

Richard Keßler graduated from high school in 1961 and studied history, economics and political science in Munich and Dublin , followed by a doctorate in 1968 . He then worked in scientific research and in association management.

politics

From 1970 to 1984 Keßler was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament , initially for the constituency of Neuburg-Wertingen and from 1974 for Neuburg-Schrobenhausen. From 1978 to 1984 he was also the honorary second mayor of Neuburg an der Donau. He then served four terms in office, from 1984 to 2008, District Administrator of the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district . During his term of office the dynamization of the Danube floodplains with the floodplain center at Schloss Grünau , the development concept for the Donaumoos with the foundation of the Donaumoos-Zweckverband, the establishment of the environmental education center " Haus im Moos ", the creation of the geriatric ward in Neuburg an der Donau and the various strengthening took place of schools in the district.

On January 25, 2010, his successor, Roland Weigert, announced that Richard Keßler would be given the official title of "Altlandrat". On October 28, 2010, Richard Keßler was made honorary citizen of the city of Neuburg an der Donau at a ceremony in Neuburg Castle . On June 12, 2016, he died of cancer.
