Petya Jantschulowa ( Bulgarian Петя Янчулова , English transcription : Petia Yanchulova , born July 3, 1978 in Sofia ) is a former Bulgarian beach volleyball player .
Career
Jantschulowa played her first international tournaments in 1998 with her sister Zwetelina Jantschulowa and reached the 25th place in the world championship in Marseille the following year . At the European Championships in 2000 , the Bulgarians lost in the third round against the Italians Bruschini / Solazzi and then made it to the losing round, where they failed in a duel between two pairs of siblings against the later third-placed Schoon-Kadijk / Kadijk . In the first round of the Olympic tournament in Sydney they had no chance against the Brazilians Adriana Behar / Shelda before they lost to the Cubans Larrea / Fernández after a narrow win against the Kadijk sisters .
In 2001 they had to admit defeat to the Brazilians Jackie Silva / Claudia in the first main round of the World Cup in Klagenfurt . Then they retired at the European Championships in Jesolo after defeats against the Swiss Kölliker / Trüssel and the Germans Ahmann / Schmidt . After they had achieved a few top ten placements in open tournaments and the Grand Slam in Marseille in 2002 , they just missed a medal in the match for third place at the European Championships in Basel against the Czechs Celbová / Nováková .
Nevertheless, they failed the next year in Alanya without winning a set after the preliminary round. The World Cup in Rio de Janeiro was more successful , where they reached the round of 16 against the Swiss duo Schnyder-Benoit / Kuhn . They also came in ninth at the 2004 European Championships after losing three sets against the Italians Gattelli / Perrotta . In the second round of the Olympic tournament in Athens they were again defeated by Adriana Behar / Shelda, although this time they challenged the Brazilians over three sets.
At the 2005 World Cup in Berlin they lost to the US duo Walsh / May-Treanor and the Germans Goller / Ludwig . After missing the tournament last year, they finished ninth in the 2006 European Championship . Then the sisters separated. Petia Jantschulowa played a few tournaments with Ewelina Tscholakowa in 2007 and 2008 without reaching any top placements.
