The Petkumer Deichvorland is a former nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city ​​of Emden and the municipality of Moormerland in the district of Leer .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 219 was 200  hectares in size. 195 hectares of this came from the city of Emden and 5 hectares from the district of Leer. The nature reserve was completely part of the FFH area “Unterems and Außenems” and largely part of the EU bird protection area “Emsmarsch from Leer to Emden”. It has been under nature protection since July 30, 1994. On June 15, 2017, it was added to the newly designated " Unterems " nature reserve . Responsible lower nature conservation authorities were the cities of Emden and the district of Leer.

The former nature reserve is located on the northern bank of the Ems in front of the dike line at Petkum . The area is characterized by salt marshes , tide -influenced creeks and rivers Watten and brackish water reeds. It is of great importance for waders and water birds . Shelduck, avocets, lapwing, black godwit, redshank, oystercatcher, meadow pipit, bluethroat, pond and reed warbler are native here.

In the area is the Petkumer Siel with the pier for the ferry to Ditzum . The former nature reserve is easily visible from the dike.
