Petr Vakoč (born July 11, 1992 ) is a Czech road cyclist .
Athletic career
Petr Vakoč won a stage at the Tour du Pays de Vaud in the junior class in 2010 and was second overall. At the national championship he was third in the road race. In 2011 he drove for the Czech Continental Team ASC Dukla Praha . This year he became national champion in the individual time trial of the U23 class. At the road world championships in Copenhagen he was 15th in the U23 road race.
In 2013, among other things, Vakoč was U23 runner-up in road racing, won the Tour of Slovakia and the Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid . In 2014 he won a stage of the Tour de Pologne , in 2015 he became national road champion and won the Czech Cycling Tour and a stage of the Tour of Britain . In 2016 he won the Classic Sud Ardèche , La Drôme Classic and the Brabant Arrow race .
In January 2018, Petr Vakoč was hit by a truck in Mpumalanga in the east of Johannesburg, South Africa while he was training with his teammates Bob Jungels and Laurens De Plus . He broke several vertebrae, de Plus suffered minor injuries. Only in June of that year was Vakoč able to start training after a long rehabilitation, but did not contest a single race this year.
