Petra Ewald

Petra Ewald (born October 7, 1955 in Erfurt ) is a German linguist who has been researching and teaching at the Institute for German Studies at the University of Rostock since 1998 .

Life

Petra Ewald passed her A- levels in 1974 in Güstrow and then took up a teaching degree in German and English at the University of Rostock , which she completed in 1978 as a certified teacher . This was followed by research studies from 1978 to 1981 at the "Section Linguistics and Literature Studies" at the same university. With the work "The upper and lower case in German, assessment of the current rules and submitted their proposals for reform" Ewald 1981 to Dr. phil. PhD . From 1981 to 1988 she worked as a research assistant at the Pedagogical University of Güstrow , then until 1990 as a regular academic aspirant there . 1990/91 habilitated they about " Johann Christoph ennobling than OrthoGraph. In addition to written linguistics , the history of German orthography , lexicology and phraseology , her research interests also include word formation , onomastics and language in the “ Third Reich ”.

Ewald is the daughter of the language historian and German scholar Karl-Ernst Sommerfeldt and his wife Sibylle Sommerfeldt, née Ottens. She is married to the electrical engineer Hartmut Ewald, also a professor at the University of Rostock.
