Petra Weber (historian)

Petra Weber (* 1958 ) is a German historian .

Life

Petra Weber studied from 1977 to 1983 at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg , the subjects Political Science , German Studies and History . She completed her studies with the first state examination. 1987 Petra Weber was Wilhelm Hennis to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1988 to 1990 she was a research assistant at the Commission for the History of Parliamentarism and Political Parties. From 1991 to 1994 Petra Weber received a grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG). Since 1995 she has been a research assistant at the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich. She is the deputy editor-in-chief of the " Vierteljahrshefte für Zeitgeschichte " and at the same time editor of the "Studien für Zeitgeschichte".

Research areas

Petra Weber's research focuses on the history of socialism , the history of the Weimar Republic and the history of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic .

In 1996 Petra Weber published a detailed biography of the social democratic politician Carlo Schmid - with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Zeit Foundation Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius . The special feature of the 968-page work is the analytical, including commentary, integration of Carlo Schmid's years of life (1896 to 1979) into the entire historical process.
