Petros Klampanis

Petros Klampanis (born July 15, 1981 in Zakynthos ) is a Greek jazz musician who lives partly in the United States ( double bass , also voice, glockenspiel , composition ).

Live and act

Klampanis grew up on the island of Zakynthos; He broke off his training at the Athens Polytechnic in order to pursue a music career and in 2005 began to study double bass at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam . In 2008 he continued his studies at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in New York . Since then he has worked in New York City a. a. with Greg Osby , Jean-Michel Pilc and Ari Hoenig . He has also made guest appearances at the North Sea Jazz Festival , Xjazz and the Palatia Jazz Festival . He released his debut album Contextual on Greg Osby's Inner Circle label in 2011 . In 2012 Klampanis worked with the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra; He performed his arrangement of the Greek folk song Thalassaki in 2013 with the Greek Symphony Orchestra in Athens. In 2019 he worked in his own trio with Kristjan Randalu and Bodek Janke , with whom he also recorded his album Irrationality . In the field of jazz, he was involved in eleven recording sessions between 2011 and 2018 , according to Tom Lord .
