Petur Maack (born October 23, 1990 ) is an Icelandic ice hockey player who has been under contract with UMFK Esja in the Icelandic ice hockey league since 2014 .

Career

Petur Maack began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Skautafélag Reykjavíkur , for whom he made his debut in the Icelandic ice hockey league in 2008 . After becoming Icelandic national champion with the team in 2009 , he switched to Mörrums GoIS IK , with whose junior teams he played in the Swedish U20 elite. After only a year returned to Reykjavík to his home club. In 2011 he dared to jump to Sweden again and was on the ice for one season at Osby IK in Division 2 , the country's fourth-highest division. But already in 2012 he rejoined Skautafélag Reykjavíkur, for which he played for two years and whose team captain he was in 2013/14. In 2014 he moved to UMFK Esja , who had just been accepted into the Icelandic ice hockey league. In 2017 he was Icelandic champion with the club.

International

Maack was in the junior division in the Icelandic squad of the U-18 World Championships 2006 (Division II), 2007 and 2008 (each Division III) as well as the U-20 World Championships 2007 , 2008 (each Division II) and 2010 (Division III). For the Icelandic men's national team , he played in Division II at the 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and 2017 World Championships . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang .
