Geography and transport links

The district is located northwest of the city center of Bückeburg on the district roads K1 and K2. The Bückeburger Aue flows on the northern outskirts . The northeast 65 extends ha large nature reserve Bückeburger lowlands . The B 65 runs to the south and the B 482 to the west .

Not far to the south and west is the state border with North Rhine-Westphalia .
