The G 5 c steam locomotives were freight locomotives of the Royal Bavarian State Railways .
description
The locomotives were manufactured by the Krauss company between 1905 and 1907 after a bottleneck in high-performance freight locomotives in the Palatinate from the 1890s . 24 vehicles were produced. They were also the last locomotives to be developed by the railroad in the Palatinate. The Deutsche Reichsbahn took over 22 vehicles as class 55 59 and gave them the road numbers 55 5901–5922. The locomotives were taken out of service by 1929. They were stationed in the Kaiserslautern , Neustadt and Landau depots .
The locomotives had a high boiler position (2780 mm above sea level ) and piston valves were used for the first time on a German wet steam locomotive. The vehicles were traveling with a Tender equipped to type bay 3 T 16th
