Palatinate Prize for Fine Arts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Palatinate Prize for Fine Art is an art prize awarded by the Palatinate District Association.

The Palatinate Prize has been awarded since 1953. Initially this happened annually, then every two years, alternately in the three categories of painting, sculpture and graphics / photography / video / new media. An expert jury selects the winners and participants of the exhibition from all the works submitted. The guidelines for the awarding of the prizes stipulate that either a factual connection should result from the work on the Palatinate or that the applicant should have a personal connection to the Palatinate . The prize is endowed with € 10,000. The winner will be honored by the Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern in a solo exhibition. For the first time in 2010, a prize for young talent (for participants up to 35 years of age) endowed with 2,500 euros was awarded in the same art category. At the suggestion of the respective jury, life's work awards can also be awarded to outstanding personalities.

In addition to the Palatinate Prize for Fine Arts, the Palatinate District Association awards further prizes (as of 2012):

  • Palatinate Future Prize
  • Media Prize Palatinate
  • Palatinate Prize for Literature
  • Palatinate award for arts and crafts
  • Palatinate Prize for Palatinate History and Folklore
  • Palatinate Prize for Music.
