Karl Bohrmann

Karl Bohrmann (born October 29, 1928 in Mannheim ; † December 17, 1998 in Cologne ) was a German painter , draftsman and printmaker .

life and work

Bohrmann studied from 1947 at the School of Arts and Crafts in Saarbrücken and from 1948 to 1949 with Willi Baumeister at the Stuttgart Art Academy . From 1952 to 1954 he received a scholarship from the State of Rhineland-Palatinate , in 1957 the Art Prize of the Youth of Baden-Württemberg and in 1958 the Palatinate Prize for Fine Art , Kaiserslautern. From 1959 to 1972 Karl Bohrmann lived in Munich . From 1972 to 1980 Bohrmann was a teacher at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main and headed the Städel evening school. In 1985 he became a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts , Munich, and in 1987 he received the Düsseldorf Art Prize .

Bohrmann created an extensive, primarily graphic work in which he dealt with the subjects of nudes , interiors, still lifes and landscapes . “..But within a subject a real cosmos of variations opens up. Bohrmann changes the same thing over and over again. And yet every single sheet is unique and contains the whole world for itself. "
