The Roman Catholic parish church Aspach is located in Aspach in the market town of Aspach in the Braunau am Inn district in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated on the Assumption of Mary , belongs to the dean's office in Aspach in the diocese of Linz . The church and the former churchyard are under monument protection .

history

The parish was handed over to St. Nikola near Passau in 1074. The Romanesque three-aisled three- bay pillar basilica with a west tower was redesigned and expanded in a Gothic style. Around 1476, the choir was rebuilt in late Gothic style with a south tower in the choir corner. In 1514 the Anna chapel was added to the north of the choir. The tall double onion helmet on the tower dates from 1936.

The three-aisled nave has five bays , in the eastern bay in front of the choir the central nave widens to the width of the choir. The Gothic vault ribs were removed in the central nave, the net ribs have been preserved in the side aisles. The three-bay choir closes with a three-eighth closure. The Gothic vault ribs in the choir were removed. The two-axis west gallery has groin vaults. The mighty late Gothic tower in the southern choir corner has two upper floors converted into an octagon and has a high double-onion helmet from 1936. A star-rib vaulted vestibule is built in front of the Gothic north portal. The Gothic sacristy door has a door with Gothic fittings.

The vaults of the choir and the central nave were covered with acanthus and foliage stucco by the plasterer Hans Georg Hennervogel (1718) . In the choir there is a fresco fragment from 1500. Behind the Georg altar is a fresco Tobias scene from 1600. Behind the Sebastian altar is a Gothic fresco Maria and Saints and Donors from 1435.

The three-bay Anna chapel with a ribbed vault closes with a three-eighth closure.

Under the two eastern yokes of the south aisle there is a tomb with a cross-ribbed yoke and a cross-ribbed yoke.

Furnishing

The high altar from 1718 was created by the plasterer Hans Georg Hennervogel. The tabernacle is the work of Johann Peter Schwanthaler the Elder (1777). The high altar picture was created by the painter Anton Giobbe (1847). The upper picture is from 1718.

The left side altar as the Georg altar was created around 1640/1650 with remarkable pictures, the statues are by the sculptor family Zürn .
