The Roman Catholic parish church Dellach im Drautal in the same community is the holy Margareta consecrated. The church, first mentioned in 1421, received parish rights in 1787.

Building description

The church is a medium-sized, late Baroque building from the late 18th century, which still contains late Gothic masonry in the choir . The church consists of a single-nave, three-bay nave and a recessed, square choir with a three-eighth end. The tower on the north side of the choir is crowned by an onion helmet. To the east of the tower is a low sacristy . The facade of the church is structured by strong pilasters , cranked cornices and narrow, high windows with cloverleaf arches. The west portal and the south side portal also have cloverleaf arches. The three-axis west facade is crowned by a volute gable.

Inside, a square vault with belt arches rests on pilasters encased in pilasters with expansive warrior capitals . A two-storey, slightly swinging gallery is set up in the western nave yoke. On the lower gallery parapet there are two gilded bas-reliefs and figures of the Christian virtues of the former pulpit . The organ is marked 1818 by a chronogram . On the north wall of the choir there is a sacrament niche and the late Gothic sacristy door. Above is the walled-in, late-Gothic tower entrance.

The wall paintings were created by Christoph Brandstätter in 1829 . The decapitation of St. Margaret can be seen in the middle of the choir, and scenes from the lives of the saints can be seen in the gusset medallions. The finding of the cross and the apparition of the cross of Emperor Constantine are depicted in the nave vaults . The mural on the north choir wall dates from the late 15th century and shows the Descent from the Cross with Saints Margaret and Barbara . The Assumption of Mary above it was made around 1600.

Facility

The high altar was created in 1847 by Michael Angather in a late Baroque style. Christoph Brandstätter painted the middle picture of the Coronation of Mary . Kreißnegger created the sculptures. The statues represent the Saints John the Baptist , Peter , Paul and Joseph . The left side altar carries a statue of Maria Immaculata . The right side altar was made by Josef Köfler around 1790. The altar contains a crucifixion group and a Pietà in the shrine . The church also features late baroque console figures of Moses , the Mother of God , a group of guardian angels and probably St. Margaret.
