The Roman Catholic parish church Höhnhart is in the village of Höhnhart in the municipality of Höhnhart in the Braunau am Inn district in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated to St. James the Elder , belongs to the Deanery Aspach in the Diocese of Linz . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection .

history

One church was named around 1230. The Gothic church was converted to baroque style . A south aisle was added to the nave .

architecture

The slightly retracted, spacious two-bay Gothic choir closes with a three-eighth closure, the vault ribs have been removed. The four-bay vaulted nave has pilasters with capitals in the Rococo style . The Rococo stucco in the vaults of the choir and nave shows groups of putti . The three-axis, two-storey west gallery shows images of the apostles from the second half of the 17th century embedded in the lower parapet. The built-in west tower has been converted into an octagon at the top and has an onion helmet, the bell chamber has a star rib vault . The sacristy extension in the southern choir corner has a star rib vault. The south portal is Gothic. The door of the west portal has Gothic fittings.

Furnishing

The high altar from 1772/73 bears works by the sculptor Franz Berger from Braunau. The high altar sheet was painted by Johann Brandstätter from Braunau. The side altars are baroque. The left side altar shows a picture of the Nativity from 1645. The right side altar shows a miraculous image of Maria Dorfen from the 18th century. An altar in the nave, probably from the second half of the 18th century, with older parts shows paintings of Saints Sebastian and Florian from the second half of the 17th century.

The Gothic font bears the group of figures Baptism of Christ by Franz Berger (1769).
