Parish Church Olbendorf

The Roman Catholic parish church of Olbendorf stands on a hill above the municipality of Olbendorf ( Hungarian : " Óbér "; Croatian : " Lovrenac ") in the Güssing district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to St. Laurentius and belongs to the Deanery of Güssing .

history

The church was built before 1767 as a simple hall church. In 1788 it was elevated to a parish church.

Architecture and equipment

The altar

The church is a hall building with a west tower facade placed in front of the flat choir. The church has a simple gable facade on the east side .

The church interior is single-nave and three-bay. Between the belt arches , which rest on protruding pilasters , there is a square vault . The east gallery is three-axis, rests on two pillars and is vaulted under the square vault. In 1910 the church was enlarged with the help of two cast iron supports .

The pressed triumphal arch separates the choir from the rest of the nave. The two-bay choir is slightly drawn in and equipped with square vaults.

The high altar was built around 1770. The altarpiece shows the martyrdom of St. Laurentius. The side altars were created in the second half of the 18th century and are constructed in the same way as niche altars with an attachment. The niche figure on the left side altar shows the Heart of Jesus from the 19th century. The baroque side figures show St. Wendelin and St. Florian . In the niche of the right side altar there is a baroque pietà . The figures on the side represent St. Joachim and St. Anna represents.

The pulpit was built around 1770, the two wooden figures of St. Donatus and St. Urban on the apse wall were created at the same time.

A column with a mercy seat from the first half of the 18th century stands on the triumphal arch pillar .

Under the gallery there are two pictures from the 18th and 19th centuries. One shows St. Leonhard and one St. Mary with child.
