The Roman Catholic parish church of Tumpen is located in the village of Tumpen in the municipality of Umhausen in the Imst district in Tyrol . It is consecrated to St. Martin and belongs to the dean's office in Silz in the diocese of Innsbruck . The building is a listed building .

Location description

The church building stands a little higher above the valley floor and is surrounded by a cemetery.

history

The church was built in 1664 and 1665 and consecrated in 1666 . In 1719 the building was enlarged. A restoration took place in 1870. The church tower was built in 1884. In 1891 the church was elevated to a parish church.

architecture

Exterior description

The church building is a simple, southern baroque building. The west tower has tracery - sound windows and a pointed gable roof. The polygonal choir is the same width as the nave. The windows close at the top in a pointed arch . Are on the north façade frescoes, which Jesus as the Good Shepherd represent, as well as frescoes of the weather Saints John and Paul from the 18th century. The windows are quatrefoil windows and the portal ends in a pointed arch.

Inside description

The three-bay nave is barrel vaulted with stitch caps . The vault rests on pilasters . On the west side of the nave is a wooden gallery. A round arched triumphal arch separates the choir from the nave. The sanctuary ends in the 5/8. The ceiling paintings are by Ludwig Sturm from 1932. The glass paintings on the windows were made around 1870.

Furnishing

The furniture dates from around 1870. The high altar was created by Josef Strasser . The picture shows the “coat donation of St. Martin”. It is flanked by figures of Saints Peter and Paul . The picture on the left side altar shows Maria , Anna and Joachim von Josef Strasser. The right side altarpiece shows the "Death of St. Joseph ", also by Josef Strasser from 1872. The pulpit was built at the end of the 17th century. A crucifix and a picture of the Madonna date from around 1700.
