The Pfrondhorn (also: Sernerfalba or Sererfalben , 1949 m above sea level ) is a mountain in the Walserkamm , part of the Bregenzerwald Mountains , which is located in the municipal area of Blons and Laterns . The Furkajoch is approx. 850 m and the Seraspitz approx. 500 m as the crow flies. There is no summit cross on the summit, just a survey point.
location
The Pfrondhorn is the first peak of the Walserkamm, which stretches in a straight line east-west to the town of Feldkirch and which is the southernmost chain of the Bregenzerwald Mountains.
It is a prominent, pronounced, summit with a slightly lower pre-summit. The vegetation consists of dense grass and some shrubs , heather and fir trees etc.
To the north under the Pfrondhorn arise some springs (at least five) that flow into the Ladritschbach or form this brook through the confluence with the sources of the Seraspitz.
Adjacent peaks and notches or Alps
In the west, about 500 m as the crow flies, the Seraspitz ( 1891 m above sea level ), about 850 m away the Furkajoch ( 1759 m above sea level ) and about 600 m away the Serajöchle ( 1855 m above sea level ). South-southwest, about 1600 m away, the Spoonspitze ( 1962 m above sea level ).
To the west lies the Gampernestalpe in the municipality of Laterns (approx. 1150 m as the crow flies), to the southwest on the municipality of Blons the Oberalp (approx. 650 m as the crow flies).
hike
The closest hiking base is the snack bar on the Furkajoch and the Portlaalpe ( 1710 m above sea level , only open in summer). Other surrounding Alps are also only cultivated in summer.
The path from the Furkajoch over the Serajöchle to the mountain top can be mastered in around 40 minutes (190 meters in altitude ). A hike from Sera Jöchle via Seraspitz to Pfrondhorn takes around 15 minutes more time.
The mountain requires surefootedness and good footwear and the ascent is not suitable for small children. In wet weather there is a risk of falling in the upper part.
