Philipp Frank (politician)

Philipp Frank (* 17th March 1968 in Freiburg ) is a German local politician of the CDU . He has been Lord Mayor of the large district town of Waldshut-Tiengen since 2015 .

Life

Frank earned his Abitur at the Kepler High School in Freiburg im Breisgau. He did his community service at the University Hospital Freiburg and the Evangelical Monastery in Freiburg. He studied history and German at the University of Hamburg and Trinity College Dublin . In Hamburg he received his doctorate in philosophy. At the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he completed further training as a certified business economist .

From the end of the 1990s, Frank worked in press and public relations as well as in journalism. From 2006 to 2008 he was press spokesman for the city administration of Villingen-Schwenningen , from 2008 to 2014 head of corporate communication / SME and regional policy at the IHK Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg . In 2014 he moved to the Saarland Chamber of Industry and Commerce as Head of Economic Policy / Strategic Questions .

In 2015 he ran for the office of Lord Mayor of Waldshut-Tiengen. Without an official opponent, he was elected with almost 90% of the valid votes cast, with a turnout of around 30%. At short notice, a city councilor for the Greens had called for her to be elected by naming her name on the ballot paper, thereby gaining almost 9% of the votes.

Philipp Frank is Catholic, married and has two sons.
