Philipp Sohmer

Philipp Sohmer (born June 23, 1975 in Bietigheim-Bissingen ) is a German television journalist and sports commentator.

Career

Sohmer studied teaching and journalism in Weingarten, Tuscaloosa and Hohenheim . He finished his studies as a journalist. Sohmer has been working for SWR as a freelancer since 1999 .

For ARD and SWR Sohmer is mostly for the sports of football, gymnastics, ski jumping and motor sports jurisdiction.

He comments for the Sportschau games in the Bundesliga , 2nd Bundesliga and Third League . He is also a FIFA expert for ARD.

In the program Sport Extra on SWR television, he is used as a live commentator for soccer games and gymnastics competitions.

Sohmer reports regularly on the Four Hills Tournament for ARD . Due to the absence of reporter Tom Bartels due to illness , Sohmer commented on January 3, 2016 on the 3rd jumping of the Four Hills Tournament 2015/16 at Bergisel in Innsbruck . He was also a stadium host on several occasions at the men's ski jumping World Cup in Titisee-Neustadt and at the women's World Cup in Oberstdorf .

As a reporter and commentator, Sohmer reported on several Olympic Games and soccer world championships .

He was nominated for the German Television Prize 2012 for his commentary on the decisions in apparatus gymnastics at the Olympic Summer Games in London . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he commented, among other things, on the Olympic victory of horizontal bar gymnast Fabian Hambüchen in his last international competition.

From 2007 to 2017 commented Sohmer the race in the DTM in the ARD , partly together with Manuel Reuter .

Since January 2018, Sohmer has also been working as a radio reporter for ARD in the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga.
