Philipp von Hoerde

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Philipp von Hoerde zu Boke (* 1455 ; † June 28, 1510 ) was lord of Boke Castle , provost in Münster and Landdrost of the Duchy of Westphalia .

Life

The parents were Bernhard von Hoerde and Godeke von Reden .

According to a legend, von Hörde went on a pilgrimage to the holy land , brought a splinter from the Holy Cross with him and gave this relic to the church in Delbrück . This resulted in the veneration of the cross in the Delbrücker Land and the Delbrücker cross costume on Good Friday . The purchase of relics is verifiable.

In Münster he took the position of provost of the cathedral. As secular deputy of Cologne Archbishop Hermann IV of Hesse in the Duchy of Westphalia, he is mentioned in 1490, when von Hörde presided over the General Chapter of the Free Counts on the grounds of the Oberfreistuhl in Arnsberg . There he represented the archbishop in his function as chairman .

In 1485, von Hörde donated the Störmede monastery . Around 1490 he married Anna von Nesselrode zu Ehreshoven .

In contrast to his predecessors in the office of the leading electoral official in the duchy, von Hörde was referred to as Landdrost ("Drossetus generalis, Ducatus Westfalie") in a document from 1493. He held the office of deputy to the sovereign until 1496. When he resigned for health reasons, Archbishop Hermann von Hessen granted him a pension of 100 guilders per year in gratitude, especially for his support during the Cologne collegiate feud . His successor was Jaspar von Oer .

In 1502 he had a chapel built in his castle to worship St. Anne. In 1506 von Hörde mediated between the citizens of Delbrück and the bishop in Paderborn.

A school and a street in Delbrück are named after von Hörde.
