Philipp von Wolff called Metternich , with full baptismal name: Franz Philipp Wenzel Maria Anton (born January 12, 1770 in Wehrden ; † March 2, 1852 ibid) was a landowner and Prussian district administrator .

Life

Origin and family

Philipp von Wolff called Metternich came from the Westphalian noble family Wolff-Metternich , who originally lived in Hesse, as the son of the married couple Klemens August Joseph Max Anton von Wolff-Metternich and Maria Theresia von Hamm and Ahr . On January 21, 1637, the court marshal Johann Adolf Wolff, called von Metternich, was raised to the status of imperial baron.

On July 15, 1800 married Philip in Bökendorf Dorothea Wilhelmina of Haxthausen, daughter of Werner Adolph von Haxthausen and Marianne von Wendt to Papenhausen, a step-aunt of the poet Annette von Droste-Hulshoff was. The marriage resulted in two daughters and three sons: Klemens became chief president of Brandenburg and district administrator of the Paderborn district, Friedrich , like his father, became district administrator of the Höxter district (1845 to 1892).

Professional background

After attending the Jesuit school in Paderborn Philipp studied at the Universities of Göttingen and Marburg law . From 1801 until his appointment as district administrator for the Warburg district on March 19, 1803, he worked as an official drost in Wewelsburg . As district administrator he remained in office until January 4, 1808, when he became sub-prefect of the Höxter district . On April 8, 1817, he became definitely district administrator of the Höxter district . At his own request, von Wolff resigned from civil service on February 19, 1845 for reasons of age. From 1826 to 1831 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of Westphalia (he did not take part in the deliberations in 1828).

He was entertainer at Schloss Wehrden and Schloss Amelunxen .
