Philippe Allaert

Philippe “Phil” Allaert (* 1961 in Brussels ) is a Belgian jazz and fusion musician ( drums , arrangement , also double bass , piano , guitar ).

Live and act

Philippe Allaert had classical percussion lessons with Georges Elie Octors at the Académie de Musique de Bruxelles in 1977/78; He then played in the experimental jazz rock band COS around keyboardist Charles Loos , with whom he made three albums from 1979-83. He toured with COS in Germany, Spain and France. In 1981/82 he worked with Philip Catherine , from 1982 to 1984 with Charles Tolliver , before becoming an accompanist for Viktor Lazlo in 1985 . He also worked as a drummer for Vaya Con Dios , for which he also worked as a producer.

In addition, he played in the following years a. a. with Jasper van't Hof ( Pili-Pili, Live '88 ), Bob Malach , Nippy Noya and David Linx , for whom he also arranged ( James Baldwin Project ), also with Philippe Caillat ( Stream of Time (1992), among others with Tony Lakatos ), Isabel Antena , Michel Herr , Pierre Van Dormael , Paolo Radno , John Tchicai , Johnny Dyani , Georges Acogny and Curtis Clark . In the field of jazz, Tom Lord lists him in ten recording sessions between 1978 and 1992. Under his own name he released the album Self (Mantra-X 2012), which was followed by the EP Two Zero One Seven in 2017 .
